Healthcare is under attack. Cyber criminals steal our medical information03/18/2017 by
Healthcare is facing other challenges other than discovering new diseases. New attacks are coming from the cyber world. Criminals infact focus on medical information: their goal is to fetch information about prescriptions, diseases and clinical reports and then sell them or blackmail patients to make profits.
A recent report from Clusit, analyzed by Corriere della Sera, shows the following figures:
- 72% of the attacks in 2016 occured with the intention of making money
- Healthcare is the industry with more attacks registered with a 102% increase in 2016 compared to 2015
The main problem is what Andrea Zapparoli Manzoni (Clusit) states: “these cyber risks not only are growing incredibly fast, but they are not managed in an efficient way, which means they are out of control”
Protecting our personal information and patients ones is essential. TAG: health and public, Sensitive data protection
